These two innovative performers will explore the art of real-time improvised aural-visual compositions, tying together new customized animation and music software tools and controllers devices. Within this 2 hour “Earshot” performance, they will utilize a variety of live performance techniques that have evolved from past performances and project collaborations in which they build on one another’s actions.

 Greg Hermanovic
Greg Hermanovic has been building animation tools for artists for over 20 years. His company Derivative, the creator of TouchDesigner, has worked with Richie Hawtin (Plastikman), Michael Snow, Rush, Prada and Herzog and de Meuron. His other company, Side Effects, who developed Houdini for 3D special effects artists has received two Academy Awards for software innovations in 3D animation. Previously Greg applied his background in physics and man-machine interface to the Space Shuttle’s Canadarm and a United Nations tropical weather research project.

 Tom Kuo - in performance
Tom Kuo, aka Task, is an electronic music performer and multi-medium digital media artist based out of Toronto. He uses his grounding in creative sonic experimentations to pursue a wide-ranging strains of new media arts. While keeping a busy schedule in performance projects, Tom is continuously evolving his methods of accentuating, and sometimes exaggerating, the moment shared between himself, his technological tools, and his audience. His unique blend of abstract territories and bold attitude have led him to perform alongside world-class acts at galleries and spaces across the continent and abroad.
