Interactive Futures 06 was a great success. The conference brought together a range of practices from computer
science to hip hop and electronic music. Performances ranged from the trance-inducing audio-visual Midnight Electro Jam, including musicians and VJs from Canada and Europe, to the intimate music box work, Le Mariage, by Art Clay. Paper presentations included talks by theorists and artists working on large-scale new media projects, and projects that focused on more personal work. Venues ranged from the Breakout room at the luxurious Laurel Point Inn, to the back staircase at the Open Space Artist-Run Centre. A review of IF06's installation series, by Dene Grigar, has been published in Leonardo's Digital Reviews section: Tangible Frequencies.
